About The Irish Handmade Glass Company

The Irish Handmade Glass Company was founded in 2010 after the closure of Waterford Crystal. A team of master craftsmen combined their skills to design and manufacture a full collection of products which are completely unique.Using colour and diamond wheel cutting we were able to create products where colour used could be matched to the cutting pattern, for example the Claddagh suite uses a dark emerald green in the base of the glass and we hand cut a Claddagh in the clear area. This process can be seen throughout our ranges, Wild Atlantic Way collection is a mix of colours found on the West coast and the cutting pattern is that of heathers and reeds. Our artisan pieces are all unique in the way we add our colours and each piece is shaped by blowing, manipulating and spinning the molten glass to get our final shape.

Our process is comparable to that of aincient Egyptian glass makers. The tools are relatively unchanged , wood being one of the main materials then, and still today. Some tools have been improved for longevity, the introduction of stainless steel has allowed this. We still melt sand and other elements in a furnace to create the molten glass, although we use gas rather than wood to heat the furnace. Every product we produce has been blown by mouth and cut by hand.
