About Jayne Gillan Designs
Living on the Slieve Mish mountains on the Dingle Peninsula, Jayne Gillan has been inspired to create her own line of wet felted wearables that draw on the local landscape. Since being introduced to Wet Felting in 2011, Jayne has combined her love of fashion design and textile making under the one discipline. "It felt like everything came together when I learned how adaptive Wet Felting was. I found the art, the creativeness and all my interests were fulfilled when I learnt about Wools ability to matt together and create a fabric. I found my perfect canvas to express myself "

Wool is felted using soap and water, and when it shrinks, it creates textures within the material. Jayne uses these textures, silk fibres, and colours to mimic the landscape and ancient architectures made of raw stone. All of Jaynes collars and scarves are full of these textures and become a piece of wearable art, connecting the wearer to the Irish Landscape.
